My new blog has been on something of a hiatus in the last month due to the biggest arts festival in the World being in town! As well as writing my own personal blog I write reviews for an online arts publication called The Wee Review and during the Fringe things go a bit crazy as we try to review as much as we can over the course of August. Last year I managed 26 reviews and so I was determined to meet the magic 30 as a reviewing figure this year. Here’s what I saw, the star ratings I gave and what I learnt during this year’s fabulous Fringe:
Susie McCabe Hardeep Singh Kohli Jess Robinson Gareth Waugh Confessions of a Personal Trainer Heather Adele is Younger Than Us The F Word Luke Kempner Colin Cloud TUTU: Dance in All It’s Glory London Hughes Jason Byrne Twayna Mayne Cosmic Scallies Adulting Hear Me Raw Overshare! Angela Barnes Marjolein Robertson Dollhouse Fagin’s Twist Daniel Piper’s Day Off Coppélia The Humours of Bandon Michelle McManus Ed Gamble Phoebe Walsh From the Ground Up What if the Plane Falls Out of the Sky?
So I did it! I made my target of 30 reviews and along the way had a lot of fun. I got to see my little brother perform in the Fringe for the first time and pushed myself to do things and see things that a year ago I would never have done. I’m still on a journey but August went a long way to helping me keep going; from the thought-provoking subjects raised by the acts and the challenges we face in the everyday. Thank you Edinburgh Fringe for yet more great memories.
